Activate Your Faith: Identity & Calling
This week is all about your identity and calling. You may be well on your way to discovering it or you might be in the boat of questioning it.
Is there more to life?
Is my purpose shining through like I hoped?
Many of us men struggle with that sense that there’s more to do and we’re going to be left behind if we don’t work harder, do more, and build better.
We want to be providers. But despite working harder and harder, there’s this nagging feeling that everyone around us is putting in half the effort and making twice the $$.
This is called many things such as the Hamster Wheel Effect, The Productivity Paradox, or the Effort-Reward Imbalance.
But it always seems to lead to one thing — burnout.
The negative voices you speak to yourself are not aligned with things of God.
This is a hard truth that took me too many years to conquer. I grew up in a family that was dysfunctional in many ways. I never heard the words, “I love you” from my parents despite being faithful churchgoers every week. Behind closed doors life could be hell one minute and exciting the next minute. You never knew if something you did that was good would get rejected. So my days would be spent second guessing myself, being critical at myself and trying to figure out how to “win” in the dysfunction.
Fast forward years later and I was living a life that was internalizing all my supposed failures.
Some of the voices I kept hearing were:
You aren’t really that good
You’re such an imposter and you’re going to get found out
The people that pay you for your work don’t like any of it, they just don’t have better options, yet
You really aren’t that good at what you do
You should be so far along and you’re still stuck on the first phase of growing a business
You’ll never break any revenue ceilings
You’re wife doesn’t want to spend time with you because you aren’t a fun person
Your kids like everyone else better than you
You should have spent more time with your wife
You should have spent more time with your kids
You’re mean, selfish, angry, bitter and resentful
I could go on for days… and I’m sure you could too.
But there’s something wrong about the first part of this.
I said voices. Plural.
In the Bible we see an examples of voices in Mark 5:9 after Jesus is casting a demon out of a man and asks the demon what its name is. The reply is “My name is Legion, for WE are many.”
Many voices.
Meanwhile Jesus tells us in John 10:27 when referring to believers as sheep, “My sheep hear my VOICE, and I know them, and they follow me.”
One voice.
Many voices will always drown away the one voice, especially if it’s quiet.
In 1 Kings 19 we see it another way, “and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
God has One Voice. And sometimes it’s a whisper that cuts to the heart.
Ignore the voices, embrace The Voice.
You must dig deep in your soul to activate your faith in a Holy God. The ONE Who carries you and whispers to you and challenges you and molds you and shapes you and encourages you and helps you and SAVES you.
The way to get to know Him more is to spend time in His Word and among His People.
Start your day with the Lord and end your day with the Lord.
Psalms 1:2 “But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.”
Joshua 1:8: Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
IF YOU WANT TO ACTIVATE YOUR FAITH AND STEP DEEPER INTO YOUR IDENTITY AND CALLING… SPEND TIME WITH JESUS.
The people recognized they had been with Jesus.
Wow.
Do people say this about you?
If not, why not?
If so, how can you make sure that fire never burns out? And who are you encouraging to be like you so they can be like Christ?
Paul was extremely bold about this:
Are you the kind of man that people think is FAITH FILLED or the kind that is DRAINING
Do you fill the cups of others but leave your own on empty?
Do you stay strong in Word and Spirit so that as your own cup runs over you can help others from the overflow?
The Greatest Commandment in all of Scripture is to Love God, then Love Others as you love yourself.
And yet so often we don’t act out on this like we should.
My encouragement to you is step DEEP into your identity and calling by making sure it aligns with the plans and promises of God.
The more you do this, the stronger you’ll become. And the more active your faith will rise as you become a man on the move.
Purpose is everything and discovering yours and helping others discover theirs is a completely worthwhile endeavor.

Call to Action
Faith gets activated when you stop listening to the many voices and start following The Voice.
The world shouts. The enemy accuses. But God still whispers.
And in that whisper is your identity, your calling, and your peace.
he takeaway this week is simple: tune out the noise, tune in to His voice.
In your faith: start and end your day with the Word — even five minutes can change the tone of your day.
In your family: speak words that build up, not voices that tear down.
In your business: act from alignment, not anxiety — let your decisions flow from peace, not pressure.
👉 When the noise rises, pray this:
“Lord, help me hear Your voice above all others. Quiet my fears, calm my striving, and remind me who I am in You.”
You guys are the best.
See you next week,
